Elite is the current-generation system, using redesigned C-shaped applicators that make more contact with the tissue than the older U-shaped cups, plus dual applicators that treat two areas at once.

Elite runs two applicators simultaneously, so a paired area like flanks is finished in one appointment instead of two. And Elite offers a wider range of applicator sizes, which means a better fit on smaller areas such as the chin and inner thigh. The underlying science — controlled cooling — is the same.

Yes, within a specific remit. Peer-reviewed studies of cryolipolysis consistently show roughly a 20–25% reduction in the fat layer of a treated area after one session. What it will not do is reduce your weight, tighten loose skin, or remove visceral fat around the organs. It works on pinchable, subcutaneous fat that has not responded to diet and training. If your goal is weight loss rather than shape, we will tell you that at consultation.

The treated fat cells are gone permanently — once cleared by the body they are not replaced. However, the fat cells that remain in the area can still enlarge if you gain weight. Patients who hold a stable weight keep their result long term; significant weight gain will change it.

You may notice a change from about 3 weeks. The most visible difference lands between 1 and 2 months, and the body continues clearing treated fat cells for up to 3 to 4 months. We photograph your final result at 12 weeks, which is why our before and after comparisons are taken at that point rather than earlier.

The first 5 to 10 minutes are the most uncomfortable — intense cold, pulling and pinching as the applicator draws the tissue in. The area then goes numb and most patients read, work or nap through the rest of the treatment. Afterwards the two-minute massage is briefly uncomfortable. Numbness and tenderness in the area can last a few weeks.

Most patients get the result they want from a single session on each area, which is why we price per area rather than per session. Some choose a second round on the same area 6 to 8 weeks later for further reduction. Your provider confirms this at consultation before anything is booked.

Cryolipolysis is FDA-cleared and has a long safety record. Common effects are temporary: redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, tingling, cramping and numbness that can persist for several weeks. There is a rare complication called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), where the treated area becomes firmer and larger rather than smaller, reported in roughly 1 in 3,000 to 4,000 treatments and more often in men. PAH does not resolve on its own and requires surgical correction. We discuss this openly before you consent.

CoolSculpting is not appropriate if you have cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, or a hernia in the treatment area. It is not used during pregnancy. It is also the wrong treatment if your main concern is loose skin rather than fat, or if you are looking for weight loss. Your provider screens for all of this at consultation.

No. CoolSculpting Elite reduces the fat layer; it does not tighten skin. Some patients see mild apparent tightening simply because there is less volume beneath the skin, but that is not the mechanism and should not be the expectation. If laxity is your primary concern, radiofrequency microneedling or a skin-tightening treatment is the honest recommendation, and we will say so.

None in the usual sense. You return to work, training and normal activity the same day. The treated area may be swollen, tender or numb for a few weeks, and some patients prefer looser clothing over the first week, but nothing is restricted.

Treatment runs about 35 minutes per area. Because Elite runs two applicators at once, a paired area such as flanks is finished in roughly 40 minutes including setup and the post-treatment massage. It is worth it for the right problem: a defined, pinchable pocket of fat on someone at or near a stable weight who does not want surgery or downtime. It is poor value if you are hoping to lose weight, treat loose skin, or reduce fat you cannot physically pinch. We would rather tell you no at consultation than take payment for a treatment that will not deliver.
